- As a Certified Information Security Professional with a career spanning over three decades, I have a wealth of experience that began in 1983, building and supporting IBM computers with aftermarket expansions. This quickly grew into a thriving retail and mail-order international business with over 18,000 customers and gross sales of over 1 million dollars by 1985. In 1986, I sold and installed my first network and began networking with manufacturers to expand my knowledge and expertise. I have also been entrusted with testing and evaluating products, a role I still hold today.
- In 1990, I installed and maintained an eight-location metro area network (MAN) serving 7 primary and secondary schools and admin buildings becoming one of the first public schools completely networked to the Internet. There was NO CABLE inside, or across the city for that service. Telco 101. A huge tradeshow in Atlanta later, I was equipped with the resources to acquire and deploy a Novell Network to support over 800 users growing to 450 endpoints within two years.
- During the early ‘90s, I sold internet circuits from 1st generation ISPs to businesses exporting the capabilities of the new communications platforms. At one time, there were 400 US Robotics modems, in a very warm closet, supporting dialup for home and business.
- I was hired to define, evaluate, and deploy the first VPN solution for international travel agencies connecting to Sabre, the worldwide AA Travel Information network.
- One of my most fulfilling roles was spending 8 years as the senior network security engineer supporting and expanding a regional children's hospital with 75 locations. A team of 2, 150 Cisco switches, millions of patient records.
- I invested a decade protecting pharmacy software under development, and HIPAA-regulated data records of 100 million patients and 15,000 pharmacies nationwide.
- Since moving to NC nearly 7 years ago, I finished my commercial career as a remote contractor supporting the City of Raleigh municipal government, culminating with 2 years with NC State Employees Credit Union, helping architect and validate their digital transformation initiatives.*
- I have earned the trust of these companies with diligent research, and real-world experience, and have assisted them in assessing their risk and then creating achievable security strategies. My solutions are cost-effective, manageable, sustainable, and provide value. I consider the value of every solution as if I were the owner of the company, asking what would I buy for this situation. Good stewardship is a key ingredient of integrity.
- With my deep knowledge of NIST, HIPAA, and other control sets, I can help your small business navigate information management obstacles with ease. By analyzing your environment and asking tough questions, we can create a baseline achievable security policy and strategy that your workforce needs. Without these, your company is vulnerable to security breaches.
- As an expert in assessing, identifying, and managing risk, I can help you create achievable security strategies and enforce good security policies. I am a trusted, certified, and seasoned professional who can help you protect your assets, both physical and digital, through well-defined policies and end-user education. My solutions are cost-effective, sustainable, and always effective, ensuring that your company, its reputation, products, and customer data, as well as your workforce and their families, are always protected.
